Frequently asked questions
Which Pioneer CDJs can play FLAC?
FLAC plays on the CDJ-1500X, CDJ-3000X, CDJ-3000, CDJ-2000NXS2 and XDJ-1000MK2. The CDJ-1500X and XDJ-1000MK2 only accept FLAC up to 48 kHz. The XDJ-700, CDJ-2000NXS, XDJ-1000, CDJ-900NXS, CDJ-850, CDJ-900, CDJ-350, CDJ-2000 and CDJ-400 cannot play FLAC at all — convert those tracks to AIFF or WAV before your gig (MP3 for the CDJ-400).
Can CDJs play Apple Lossless (ALAC) and M4A files?
Apple Lossless plays on the CDJ-1500X, CDJ-3000X, CDJ-3000, CDJ-2000NXS2 and XDJ-1000MK2. Most other models play .m4a files only when they contain AAC, not ALAC. DRM-protected AAC files from the old iTunes Store do not play on any CDJ.
Which CDJs can play 96 kHz WAV and AIFF files?
Only the CDJ-3000X, CDJ-3000 and CDJ-2000NXS2 play WAV and AIFF at 88.2 and 96 kHz. Every other model is limited to 44.1 and 48 kHz — higher sample rates trigger an error.
Which USB format do CDJs need?
Every model in this list reads FAT32. exFAT is supported only on the CDJ-1500X and CDJ-3000X. NTFS is not supported on any CDJ or XDJ — the drive will not show up at all.
Which file format plays on every CDJ?
16-bit or 24-bit WAV and AIFF at 44.1 kHz play on every model here except the CDJ-400, which only plays MP3 from USB. MP3 is the only format that plays on every model in this list.
